Ministries

Christian Learning Center (CLC):

After the children’s message during the morning worship, the younger children are dismissed to the church basement to the Christian Learning Center. During this time, a variety of activities such as video lessons, fun sheets and crafts engage the children.

Monday Evening Meals Out (MEMO):

On each Monday during the months of January, February and March, the Women of St. John’s prepare a soup and sandwich meal for the public. After a short break from the kitchen, this ministry resumes once a month on the first Monday during the months of October, November and December.

Food Pantry:

St. John’s joins with three churches in Minier to host a monthly food pantry. Once every four months, each church obtains, sorts and distributes food to needy families in our area.  They also participate in the Snack Pak program with the other churches to provide a snack bag for the weekends to children in the community in need.

Women of St. John’s (WSJ):

Every woman, by virtue of her church membership or affiliation with the congregation, is considered a member of this group which was formed in 1886 and been active ever since.

The Women of St. John’s prepare Communion, decorate the church for various seasons, serve coffee hour during Lent and Advent, and deliver plants to shut-ins at those times. They host a Spring Guest Day Banquet and a Holiday Market and Cookie Walk. Soup Suppers are served Mondays in January, February, and March and special meals at other times. Serving funeral dinners is a heartfelt service of this group. The WSJ offer financial support to special missions including the Food Pantry, Community Claus, Home Sweet Home Mission, just to name a few. They also maintain the FFH (Faith Fellowship Hall) kitchen and provide supplies as needed.

Music:

St. John’s has an adult choir that performs at each morning service and several special services during the church year.  If you like to sing, you are welcome to join the adult choir.  Practices are held on Wednesday evening starting at 7:00 PM.

In addition to the vocal choir, a hand chime choir performs during special services such as Lent and Advent.  A willingness to add to the worship service is the only requirement.

During the church year on select Sundays, the children from the Sunday School classes perform a few songs during worship service.

We also are very blessed to have talented musicians in our congregation who provide special music for services during the year.

Youth:

We believe in the investment of our children through Bible-based and faith-founded education.

St. John’s youth group consists of two age levels: King’s Kids, which covers children age four through 5th grade, and Addicted to Jesus (A2J), which covers 6th through 12th grades.

King’s Kids meets at 6:00 pm on Wednesdays during the school year in the Faith Fellowship Hall. Their meetings consist of an interactive Bible lesson complete with games, activities, projects, singing and snack time.

A2J meets at 6:45 pm on Wednesdays during the school year. Their meetings consist of group time in the youth room (upper floor of the Faith Fellowship Hall) and snack time.

Our youth program holds a monthly Family Night Out meal on the first Wednesday of every month. All youth come to the Faith Fellowship Hall at 5:30 pm and prepare the meal, which all congregation members, parents and friends are invited to enjoy. Both groups also have outings, with activities suitable for the season. Other events include the  Minier Christmas Parade float, youth lock-ins and mission trips. Fundraising activities include a Thanksgiving turkey and Beef House roll sale, and the annual Sausage Making and Pancake/Sausage Breakfast.

All youth are invited to attend our youth group meetings to join in our fellowship and community. Please contact the church office for more information.
